Our target
We want WhyUpload to work for everyone, and our target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That is a goal, not a claim of conformance. The site has not had a formal human accessibility audit.
What we test
Automated browser tests check the following:
- The axe accessibility checker, using its WCAG A and AA rules, finds no serious or critical issues on the home page, every tool's landing page, Ask WhyUpload, the legal pages and the 404 page, in both light and dark themes. It also runs on screens within many tool workflows.
- Those pages fit a 320-pixel-wide screen without sideways scrolling.
- The tools menu and mobile tools drawer keep keyboard focus inside while open and close with Escape.
- Many tool workflows are also tested on a phone-sized screen, including minimum touch target sizes. Some drag actions are tested with the keyboard or with buttons as an alternative, such as moving pages when reordering.
Known limits
Automated checks catch only some accessibility problems, and our tests act only on the issues axe rates serious or critical. Please keep these limits in mind:
- Our automated tests do not use a real screen reader or real assistive technology.
- Visual tools such as placing signatures, editing on the page, cropping and drawing redaction marks depend on page images and pointer gestures, and are harder to use without sight or a mouse.
- The PDFs and other files the tools produce may not be accessible. Some output has no tagged structure, and a source file with no accessible structure gives us none to keep.
Reporting a problem
If something on the site is hard or impossible for you to use, email support@whyupload.com and tell us the page or tool, what you were trying to do, and the browser and any assistive technology you use. Please do not attach private documents.
